When spring/summer comes around I’m sure many of you (much like myself) spend your time scanning through the latest lookbooks from all the high-end Italian fashion houses – imaging yourself socialising on some glistening yacht moored on the Mediterranean coastline. However, this is only a daydream for many of us. For guys like me, investing in a beautiful pair of white Gucci chinos and a Dolce & Gabbana blazer would require a payday loan from one of those dodgy adverts on tv – that’s without even considering the suede loafers and linen shirt I would need to pull off a true Riviera-inspired look. Nevertheless, not all spring/summer collections will bust your bank account. For instance, the latest SS13 lookbook released by British company Bellfield not only showcases a wide array of fantastic summer clothing, it also comes with alluring price tags. Based in London, Bellfield’s design team take inspiration from all around the globe, combining different styles that culminate into timeless menswear collections. With items ranging from bomber jackets to floral shirts, skinny jeans to swim shorts, the SS13 collection from the home grown label really covers all areas of a man’s high summer wardrobe. The outerwear within the collection is a particular highlight, coming in a wide variety of styles – a particular favourite of mine being the ‘Hideout’. Available in mustard/turquoise and blue/white colour ways, the jacket has a nautical feel – emphasised by the multiple front pockets and drawstring waist and hood. Alternatively, if you’re looking for something more on trend, the camo print ‘Choudary’ bomber jacket is ideal, particularly in burgundy (the in vogue hue). The rest of the collection features a diverse colour palette, allowing you to experiment with summer vibrancy. The essential ‘Delmar’ swim shorts are available in yellow and burgundy, whilst the brand’s printed versions also help you keep up with current industry influences. Overall the Bellfield SS13 collection provides the everyday male with some great on trend summer options – all of which come at an affordable price.
