Already 2013 seems set to be an exciting year for men’s fragrance. Amidst the flurry of excitement surrounding last week’s launch of Versace’s first male-specific scent in over five years, another giant in the luxury retail game also released their first male scent ever.
The brand in question is Bentley; otherwise known as the epitome of style and elegance when it comes to automobiles – thus a name not normally associated with perfumery. However, the longstanding British brand has transmitted some of its classic traits in to a sumptuous new fragrance, simply called ‘Bentley for Men’.
Created specifically for the confident cosmopolitan man, Bentley for Men was designed by French perfumer Nathalie Lorson and emulates the classic leather and wood interiors of Bentley’s famously luxurious cars.
Combining spicy black pepper and invigorating bergamot with natural rum essence, cinnamon and musk, it creates a strong, masculine and sensuous scent that is perfectly suited to the modern man.
Nathalie has also taken some of the key elements – black pepper and cedarwood – amplified them, and mixed them with other ingredients such as African geranium and incense to create a supplementary fragrance called ‘Bentley for Men Intense’. Aimed at those who are bold enough to wear it, it boasts extra long staying power due to its 15% perfume concentration, so please bear in mind that a little goes a long way!
The packaging for each of the bottles is quintessentially Bentley; sleek, simple, sexy. The polished metal is embossed with the brand’s signature ‘Flying B’, and the cap surrounds a diamond shaped pump. The eau du toilette, as well as the aftershave balm and the hair and body gel (which is also scented with the fragrance) come in sleek matte silver or copper packaging, perfect for shamelessly whipping out down the gym.
Launching in April, the EDT will be priced from €59 while the Intense EDT will be €87. They will be available from selected perfumeries and department stores, including Boots and Debenhams in the UK. There will also be a limited edition Bentley Crystal Edition EDP, housed in an exclusive bottle made by Lalique, priced at £3,000. Only 300 flacons will be released, available from selected Bentley stores.
