Canada Goose x Eepmon Synthesis Parka
One brand continues to prove that, when it comes to cold-weather needs, there’s only one animal you can trust. Since 1957, North American outfitters Canada Goose has built a well-earned reputation as the go-to purveyors of heavy-duty parkas and down-filled coats.
The brand’s offerings may cost a little more than the parkas flogged on the high street, but as a wintertime investment piece, a Canada Goose coat is hard to beat. And why skimp on lasting quality?
Whilst their traditional parkas are timeless – and deservedly top sellers year after year – Canada Goose seek to inject a shot of modern styling into their silhouette. This year they are teaming up with teacher/experimental visual artist and fellow Canadian Eric Chan, a.k.a Eepmon.
From the outside, little appears to have changed. The resulting piece is a classic, dark parka with a two-way adjustable fur-rimmed hood and snap pockets. The only hint that something is amiss is the hand-dyed blue streak on the left of the hood. However, look within the coat’s lining and see that Chan is responsible for bringing his intricate graphic work and an elegant splash of colour to the collaboration.
The inner is emblazoned with a beautiful, vivid image of the company’s namesake. Autumnal plants and luxury items are included to represent Canadian culture; with influences also drawn from Asian portraiture to reference Chan’s heritage.
The idea behind the piece, aside from being a celebration of a country that understands harsh winter better than most, is to realise the creation of a wearable work of art – an intention that has been surely achieved.
Available in limited numbers, The Canada Goose x Eepmon parka is available now at selected stockists worldwide. See the full list here.
