Christopher Raeburn x Victorinox
With the great British weather being as unpredictable as ever and festival season right around the corner, many of us are suffering the same dilemma about what to pack for our music weekends. Tapping into our inner-turmoil, Christopher Raeburn has teamed up with Swiss brand Victorinox to collaborate on a range of limited edition outerwear pieces.
The ‘Protect’ collection features lightweight jackets, capes, ponchos and gilets that are perfect for those intrusive summer showers. Raeburn, recent winner of the British Fashion Award for Emerging Menswear Talent, has built his reputation on producing wearable and covetable utilitarian pieces. Practical and stylish, Raeburn’s collections have universal appeal. The collaboration with Victorinox marks another step in this designer’s maturity, helping to establish a global brand.
Going one step further than just producing outerwear for this collection, the designers have put together a range of festival-ready gear perfect for the modern Action Man. We’re talking two state-of-the-art tents, a men’s rucksack, a field kit, tote bags and even a Swiss army knife. After all, you can never predict when you might get lost in the wilderness – or when you and your mates will be too busy packing the beers to remember to bring cutlery.
If that wasn’t enough, the design duo has even developed an app James Bond would be proud of. If we had a penny for each of the times we’ve got lost returning from the toilets at festivals, well, we’d have a lot of pennies. The app uses augmented reality to pinpoint your tent as well as other spots such as the toilets, stages and the beer tent.
Completely free and available for iPhone and Android, the app is a necessity for every festival-goer. So, what do you think the likelihood of it being able to find your car in a dark car park after a long weekend is? Experiment now with iTunes and Google Play.
