Ever heard of KRINK? No? Well, luxury American accessories brand Coach has decided to work with relatively unknown (at least in the UK) but exceptionally talented artist Craig Costello, better known as KRINK. The Brooklyn-based artist is collaborating with Coach for their summer/spring 2013 collection of bags, wallets and other accessories.
Based on the prototypes, a central theme runs throughout all items – a moniker Costello is renowned for. Krink’s signature paint drips have been influenced by the mailboxes and various red bricks of New York and integrated into the pieces of Coach’s SS13 collection.
Luxury iPad cases, holdalls and wallets are all set to be available; sure to be produced from the finest leather and finished by printed splatters of paint in various bright, neon colours. Coach, being sticklers for authenticity, painstakingly screen printed each of Costello’s designs to ensure accuracy of work.
Working with an artist inspired by the 1980s punk era, the colour palette of the collection stays true to the hallmarks of this genre – generally bright, bold and contrasting. This is a brave move for Coach, who are traditionally conservative with their designs and are instead lauded for the quality of their pieces.
The range is due to hit stores and online from February through to June.
