Common People AW13 Collection
Common People have launched their AW13 collection, which sees heritage pieces merged with sportswear, taking inspiration from the past and adding functionality for a technical twist.
The heritage elements present within the range have been combined with nylons and Airtex linings, giving a sense of contrasted sportswear. The accompanying lookbook has been shot against the backdrop of an old veterinary college, mirroring the key styles of the collection with its antique yet clinical equipment.
Vintage finds dating back to the Prohibition era influence silhouettes and details, with the signature Common People workwear blazer reinventing itself in pinstriped wool with matching cinch-back, rail road trousers. Classic Mackinaw and Norfolk jackets come in a knitted woven fabric, which not only adds a nice tactile element and is seasonally-appropriate, but helps give these traditional styles a modern twist.
This season has also seen the brand team up with Inverallan, a Scottish manufacturer who have produced the highest quality knitwear for over thirty years. These collaborative pieces include a two-tone shawl collar cardigan, roll neck jumper and hat, all of which are hand knitted in Scotland using 100 per cent pure Aran wool. Each piece can take up to six weeks to complete, emphasising the attention to detail and craftsmanship that goes into each item.
Common People were drawn to the unique quality and craftsmanship of Inverallan, as well as the Scottish production, both of which are core values for the brand.
The new AW13 collection is available now from commonpeopleclothing.co.uk.
