Chuck Taylor X DC Comics
The ‘Chuck Taylor All Star’ sneaker has been a footwear favourite for over half a century now, shooting to popularity in the late 1960s when basketball players wanted comfortable but practical footwear. However, the transition from sports shoe to a casual must have happened in the 1990s, when grunge rock idols like Kurt Cobain religiously wore them.
Today, they are available in a huge range of colours, styles and materials – and a pair of “Chucks” can look good with just about anything in your wardrobe.
Alongside the growing cult following of these sneakers, multiple big screen adaptations of our favourite Superheroes are being released at the cinema every year. With this in mind, it almost makes sense for Converse to team up with DC Comics for their latest special edition line of shoes… doesn’t it? Either way, the brands have been slowly creating a selection Chuck Taylor x DC Comics hi-tops since 2010 – and the range finally looks complete.
Utilising the signature hi-top design with a canvas body and rubber sole, the Converse Chuck Taylor x DC Comics sneakers were originally only available in The Joker and Batman designs. The collection now boasts over ten variations, including Catwoman, Killer Croc, Superman and The Riddler amongst others.
Will they make it possible for you to jump across rooftops and save the world? Probably not, but if you’re brave enough to wear them, they’d look pretty damn cool teamed with a pair of jeans and a simple white tee.
You can now even customise your own pair by visiting the Converse website.
