De Fursac SS13 Collection
The SS13 collection from French fashion house De Fursac is a testament to dapper gentlemen from a long lost age of chivalry and charm. In the idyllic De Fursac world, for a man to wear anything other than a smart suit or some form of tailoring is unthinkable. Eternally well-dressed for any occasion, these are men who sport slicked back hair, tailored suits and a whole lot of charm.
Featuring chiselled model Clément Chabernaud, the lookbook harks back to a bygone era with a strong inkling of nostalgia. Chabernaud reposes moodily against a wall or two, casually leaning with his hands tucked into his pockets or standing with a jacket draped over his arm. Staring intently down the camera lens, the model has an allure of relaxation and seduction. Here’s betting this campaign makes more than a few women slightly hot under the collar.
As for the clothes, De Fursac takes a conservative colour palette and lets the sleek silhouettes do the work. Suits are expertly tailored and complemented with pocket squares and subtly patterned ties. Dressed up or down, the versatility of the suit is put on a pedestal.
Blazers are given a dose of casualness with the odd unbuttoning or open front. Meanwhile, shoes without socks and a zipped blazer present a more utilitarian feel and promote a quintessential smart-casual vibe.
Reviving an almost extinct species of man, here’s hoping De Fursac can reincarnate the lost charisma of the 1940s and 1950s in the modern man.
