Dsquared2 AW13 Campaign
DSquared2 designers Dan and Dean Caten have gradually built their brand’s identity over the years, creating a now iconic mix of sophistication, chic and provocation, known as the Dsquared2 philosophy – synonymous with the brand’s concept of alternative luxury.
Taking inspiration from their own lives – born in Canada and now dividing time between working in London and Italy – the pair utilise a unique concoction of personal influences, reconciled with past, present and future intuitive trends, to create collections which always have tongue-in-cheek cultural creativity at their core.
The irreverent new autumn/winter 2013 campaign is no different, showcasing a huge variety of influences, ranging from the polar opposites of American dandy and military style to Gatsby-esque dance hall and the jazz era. The collection comprises bold, jewel coloured fabrics, elaborate smoking jackets and art deco print silk ties, along with military boots, hats and shirts.
The video campaign features Senegalese newcomer Fallou Gueye (who walked in the AW13 DSquared2 and Ermanno Scervino showcases for his fashion debut) and uses a mix of black and white shots and vibrant colour filters to complement the jumble of brights and monochromes in the collection.
Juxtaposed with a modern soundtrack by Stefano Riva, the video highlights with the brand’s fashion-forward approach to tailoring and emphasises the designers’ talents for effortlessly blending old styles with modern ideas and fresh, new faces.
