East Club has unveiled their SS13 ready-to-wear collection, which combines premium fabrics and classic British style with contemporary twists. The brand was founded in 2011 by designer Juan Acevedo, who is Mexican born but a bit of a globetrotter – having previously lived in Chicago, Paris, Milan, Madrid and Hong Kong before settling in London. With a background in architecture Acevedo takes inspiration from the world of art, photography, film and even finance – creating a brand that is luxurious but affordable, with its perfect mix of premium fabrics and timeless design. The SS13 collection offers preppy pieces heavily influenced by Mediterranean summer wear – a style that Acevedo observed and was drawn to during trips to St Tropez and Capri. The brand is based in Shoreditch; an area in London synonymous with creative urban style but not one you would traditionally associate with preppy wear. This irony isn’t lost on the designer, who looks to blend preppy chic with gritty east London industrial/urban influences – transforming traditional preppy into something more interesting. All these influences are on show in the brand’s accompanying campaign imagery (below), shot in Poole, England, which shows dapperly-dressed models on board Sunseeker yachts, surrounded by an industrial landscape. The collection itself contains basics such as tees, shirts, shorts and chinos, as well as full suits and a colourful selection of accessories. The pieces are almost entirely manufactured in Europe – 95% in fact – specifically Italy, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Lithuania. The highlight of the collection is the navy belted trench, which is made from German cotton twill and features brown suede detailing along with an Italian blue candy stripe viscose lining. Timeless, classic and versatile, it would look great layered over smart or casual ensembles and will take you well into winter. Overall, East Club provides affordable luxury for the fashion-conscious gent. Mixing preppy aesthetics with a wide range of contemporary influences, the result is a modern, versatile collection that can be dressed up of down effortlessly.
