Eddie Harrop – The New Travel Bag
Hong Kong born designer Eddie Harrop has created a new range of weekend bags for the man on the go. Each bag is handcrafted using the finest leather by highly skilled artisans in Vietnam to ensure lifelong quality and a travel companion that will only get better with age.
Now splitting her time between London and Saigon, Harrop’s international and diverse background has been greatly influential in creating her namesake line of luxury bags, which often feature a bohemian twist.
Asia has played a big part in the creation on the line; it was whilst travelling around the continent that Harrop realised she wanted to design travel bags that could fit in everything you needed for a long weekend away: “I wanted to mix that classic English heritage shape and quality with some of the more exotic popping colours found in Asia”, said the designer.
She goes on to say “the Vietnamese people have been through a hell of a lot; they’re tough, and to live out here you have to adopt some of their resilience which I have tried to reflect in my bags”. As a result, the bags are resilient and hard-wearing, much like the Vietnamese ethos.
There are two styles to choose from: The Roundel and The Weekender. Both would make the perfect carry-on companion for a weekend city break or business trip. Available in dark emerald green or tan leather, variations include different coloured stripes and piping detail.
The Roundel, as the name suggests, is a round, cylindrical-shaped style, complete with leather handles and strap. The larger of the two, The Weekender features a more traditional, boxy silhouette. Design touches on this model includes wrap-around wide strap handles.
These bags are high on quality with a classic and minimal aesthetic, creating the perfect blend of functionality and style.
The bags retail at £375 for The Roundel and £385 for The Weekender. They are available to buy from eddieharrop.com.
