Fashion Forward Menswear Winners SS14

Now celebrating its sixth year, the British Fashion Council’s (BFC) Fashion Forward initiative serves to promote the UK fashion industry’s outstanding new design talent.

This season, first time recipients of the award Christopher Raeburn, Sibling and Lou Dalton will receive tailored business support from the BFC. They were also given financial backing to create either a catwalk show or presentation at this weekend’s London Collections: MEN.

Birthed in May 2012, Fashion Forward sponsorship was created in recognition of London’s growing presence as a source of menswear creativity, and of men’s fashion as a standalone artistic aspect of the industry. Prior to this, menswear was showcased on the final day of London fashion week – with support for designers shared with their womenswear counterparts.

Fashion Forward is now sponsored by eBay Fashion and recognised by the Mayor of London.

“It’s incredibly exciting to see such a talented trio of designers given the support and exposure their work deserves and with all eyes on London this June, there’s no better showcasing platform for their level of business”
Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council

Winner Lou Dalton commented: “Having been fortunate enough to win the Fashion Forward prize has significantly supported the development of the Lou Dalton brand. The collection has grown in size and an increase in sales this season has led to added financial pressure. The support from Fashion Forward has played a huge part in dealing with these bursts of growth, from a production viewpoint and constructive manor.”

After seeing the stunning collections put together by each designer for LC:M SS14 (viewable below), it just goes to show that initiatives such as Fashion Forward are helping to develop and nurture some of our greatest design talent – and long may it continue.
