Brazilian label Frescobol Carioca has unveiled its new beachwear collection for SS13. Though still relatively unknown within the industry, in the four years since its launch the label has prided itself in producing luxury beachwear and accessories.
The collection is very heavy on bold colours and patterns, which is to be expected from a label founded in sunny Rio de Janeiro. On offer are swim shorts, cotton/linen shirts and towels as well as paddles that celebrate the Brazilian beach sport favourite of Frescobol.
The linen beach towels are named after the different beaches of Rio and come in an array of solid colours and vibrant prints. They are lightweight, so can be easily carried in your beach bag and used throughout the day. The woven linen construction means they don’t hold sand, whilst also ensuring they are soft, extremely absorbent and quick drying.
A quirky inclusion to the collection is the signature Frescobol Brazilian bat and ball sets. Hand made and individually produced by artisan craftsmen, they are constructed from a selection of local, ethically sourced Brazilian woods such as Ipe, Masaranduba and Cedro. The set includes two bats, two balls and comes with a bold sky blue carry case – they make the ideal beach accessory if you decide to have a more active break.
The highlight of the collection has to be the trunks, which are offered in two styles: the longer cut Leblon and shorter Trancoso. Both are offered in a range of block colours including red, blue, green and pink as well as the equally colourful patterned versions. The patterned models come in two styles; the ‘Copacabana’ have a repeated wave motif whilst the ‘Caio Locke’ line offers wild patterns with base colours such as green, blue and lavender.
