Givenchy AW13 Campaign

Ever the pioneers, Givenchy have recently released a brief preview of their autumn/winter 2013 campaign, ahead of its official release later in the year. Having celebrated its sixtieth birthday last year as undoubtedly one of the most revered names in the industry, the powerhouse fashion company is one of the first high-end luxury brands to reveal their autumn line. Shot by frequent collaborators Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott (known professionally simply as Mert and Marcus) the campaign showcases the fledgling modelling talents of Goya Award-winning actor Quim Gutiérrez, who has up to this point remained little known outside of his native Spain, with styling from Carine Roitfeld (formerly editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris). Other famous faces rounding out distinct areas of the line include current Givenchy spokeswoman Amanda Seyfried and Roitfeld’s daughter, Julia. If the fleeting glimpse volunteered is considered enough to judge the tone and content of the collection by, the menswear line will place a distinct focus on classic, clean cuts in a simple, monochromatic palette – well highlighted by Mert and Marcus’ stark, minimalistic black and white images. Italian fashion designer Riccardo Tisci, who has been the accessories and menswear designer for Givenchy since 2008, having previously been the Creative Director for Givenchy womenswear and haute couture, is responsible for the creation of the new collection. The entire campaign is expected to be revealed in full later in the year, closer to the actual release of the line.
