Hype Black On Black x Topman
Two weeks ago we featured the new collection by streetwear brand Hype – the range showcased a broad selection of outlandish floral prints, avant-garde graphics and psychedelic patterns. The intense brightness and colour seen in the collection is what Hype has become renowned for in its first two years of business.
However, following the recent t-shirt and vest collection, Hype has now released another range in collaboration with its main stockist, Topman. This alliance sees both parties steering towards a new sartorial direction, moving away from the typical graphic tees and exploring a purely monochrome range.
Black on Black consists of eleven limited edition jet-black garments, ranging from simplistic beanies to seasonal jackets. Both brands have put emphasis on making the range an exclusive release – each piece has been individually numbered and limited to below one hundred pieces per design.
Moreover, the materials used in this collection have assisted the formation of a truly unique range. By utilising a selection of mesh, cotton, gloss print and felt appliqué, Hype has again distanced itself from its roots, moving further away from their traditional cotton t-shirts and vests and creating more experimental designs.
The cut of the garments reinforces the idea that Hype is looking to break out of its sartorial comfort zone. Embracing oversized t-shirts and sweats, the label hints towards the artistic, conceptual and more directional end of fashion and perhaps suggests Hype has its sights set on becoming a high-end label.
Prices for this exclusive collection range from £15 for a beanie to £70 for a jacket – reasonable costs given the uniqueness of all garments. However, the low price range and small production numbers means this collection is likely to sell out in record time, so be quick off the mark if you’re looking to purchase.
