Indie Brands is a book by Anneloes Van Galeen, dedicated to supporting independent brands by interviewing individual pioneers who have succeeded in founding a unique label. The book documents how the entrepreneurs focus their creativity by surrounding themselves with inspiring items in their artistic work space.
Including independent brands from all corners of the world that vary in size, product and start date ensures the book has a range of diverse content. Indie Brands arranges events which include guest speakers and inspiring lectures from the founders of independent brands themselves. The first event was entitled ‘Where Creativity and Commerce Meet’ – acting as an interactive audio version of the book.
The second focuses solely on denim brands such as Ikka, who use recycled denim to produce original MacBook sleeves and iPad covers, and Hiut Denim, a company who attaches a history tag to each jean under the promise that the wearer will provide a detailed account of the denim’s travels.
The third event is set to take place on the 20th February 2013, so be sure not to miss motivational stories on the achievements behind each label and organisation.
