Isabel Marant For H&M
Isabel Marant’s collection for H&M is the latest in a long series of collaborations that brings the high street and high fashion together.
Marking the designer’s first foray in to menswear, the collection taps into her signature French style and sets it loose on a new market – taking menswear staples and pulling them together with a sense of cool that is hard to match.
The range is unsurprisingly influenced by Parisian chic, with a subdued colour palette and clean lines helping create a simple yet stylish silhouette. However, Marant contrasts this with a modern streetwear sensibility, incorporating intricate patterned pieces that bring texture to the looks.
Rock ‘n’ roll staples play a large part in the collection. Suede ankle boots are left wider around the top which gives them a dishevelled, oversized feel that makes them the perfect companion to a pair of skinny jeans.
The jeans on offer have character injected via patterned side panels that are reminiscent of military stripes, but are given a contemporary update by the use of graphics. A pair of leather biker trousers are also available, in a minimal style that is ideal for adding a novel, tactile element to an ensemble without rendering it too outlandish.
The collection is rounded out with tailored coats and some basic pieces as well as scarves that adopt the patterns seen throughout the collection. These items help introduce a tailored element that, in the greater context of the range, evokes a bohemian feel – mixing sharp lines with a relaxed vibe.
In summary, Isabel Marant’s collection for H&M upholds the high standards we have come to expect from the high street brand’s now iconic designer collaborations. The collection will be available online and in select stores worldwide after it launches on the 14th of November.
