English heritage brand Lavenham have been making high quality outdoor clothing and accessories since 1969. As the first brand to produce a nylon quilted horse rug, Lavenham are renowned for their quality quilted garments. Their entire manufacturing process takes place in house at their Suffolk factory, where they utilise the best fabrics the British Isles has to offer – ensuring each product is constructed from UK sourced materials.
This season, Lavenham have teamed up with Harris Elliot, of H by Harris, in a unique collaboration of British country style. With both brands basing their ethos on utilising quilt patterns to create garments of the highest calibre, there is no wonder the two blended so well – as proven by resulting lookbook (shown below).
Featuring a wide range of jackets and bags, it is clear from the images that both parties have had an influence on the collection. As you would expect, the bags tend to use quilting as a common denominator, although there are a wide range of alternative shapes, sizes and colours available.
The jackets are much more intriguing, with the horse racing/jockey theme providing an underlying sporting vibe and therefore positively endorsing the current sport luxe trend. The ‘Varsity Lone Ranger’ jacket is synonymous of this – with ringed coloured cuffs the jacket immediately brings to mind equestrian race wear, with the mesh sleeves and 3D lining adding a contemporary twist to a classic varsity silhouette.
The rest of the outerwear present within the collection experiments with bold colour and interesting mesh materials.
Ultimately, the collection works so well because of the “in quilt we trust” ethos shared by both brands – whether used for the inner lining of the jackets or the outer styling of the messenger bags, it’s an iconic texture that only serves to reinforce the strong British heritage aesthetic prominent throughout.
