Levi’s Waste<Less Collection
Iconic denim brand Levi’s are yet again demonstrating their dedication to reducing their carbon footprint. After the success of their previous Water<Less campaign, Levi’s have announced the next chapter in their ongoing commitment to become an environmentally conscious company. The Waste<Less collection is set to be released spring 2013 and features a compilation of garments that are manufactured out of post recycled consumer products. Yes, that’s right, the very water bottle you were sipping on yesterday may end up in your next pair of Levi’s. Without neglecting quality and and craftsmanship, Levi’s have promised that all garments will consist of a minimum of 20 per cent post consumer recycled products – equating to an average of eight 12-20 ounce plastic bottles and a total of 3.5 million recycled bottles throughout the whole manufacturing process. The collection will include some of Levi’s most renowned styles, including women and men’s 511 skinny jeans, 504 straight leg jeans and the heritage trucker jacket. With continuing emergence of more eco-friendly clothing labels, Levi’s seem to be leading the frontier and trying to raise awareness on a global stage; it has been announced that the collection will be available in numerous retailers in over 110 countries. Proving that you don’t have to substitute quality to become environmentally conscious, hopefully the innovative work of Levi’s and their partnership with eco-friendly manufactures will be the incentive other big and independent brands need to follow suit.
