Movember November At Harvey Nichols
It’s that time of the year again. The time when all manner of gents around the globe start sprouting bristly upper-lip creations in the name of men’s health.
The story began back in 2003, when thirty enterprising Aussies in Melbourne decided to cultivate whiskers to raise awareness and funding for the fight against testicular and prostate cancer and mental illness.
Movember has now become a worldwide phenomenon, with 1.1 million gents taking part in 2012, raising an impressive £92 million through sponsorship, with this year set to be even bigger.
The stylish folk down at Harvey Nics are once again doing their bit for the cause, and Wednesday 30th of October saw the bewhiskered and clean-shaven gents of the capital head down to Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge for their official Movember launch party:
Central to the evening’s events were esteemed barbers Murdock London, who were on hand to provide their erudite grooming expertise.
Bearded and smooth-faced guests were invited by the elegantly-attired stylists to sample one of their refined treatments and to tidy up their strays:
Elsewhere on the menswear floor, luxury perfumers Penhaligon’s lent a aromatic note to proceedings, offering sampling sessions of their most distinguished men’s fragrances, whilst tasty chunky chip and bagel canapés were washed down by Langley’s No. 8 Gin cocktails and Peroni.
Games & Raffle
Model Jack Guinness was the resident D.J. on the decks, providing an up-beat soundtrack to ‘Spin the Moustache’ games and ping-pong table shenanigans.
Guests were also offered an exclusive discount on the new menswear collections, and the chance to win some superb prizes in the Movember raffle.
If you didn’t make it down for the event, don’t fret – for the entire month of November, Harvey Nichols establishments nationwide are laying on a special gastronomic ‘MoBro Fuel’ dish at their sleek eateries.
Consisting of an open bagel with an organic hen’s egg and pastrami, topped off with celeriac and apple remoulade, it’s a deliciously masculine tribute to Movember.
Accompanied by chilli fries and a piquant English mustard aioli, the ‘MoBro Fuel’ meal is priced at £16.50, with £5 from every order donated going directly to the Movember cause.
Available at Harvey Nichols’ stores and restaurants across the UK from 1st to 31st November:
