NEIGHBORHOOD SS13 SPOT ITEM Collection
Full denim is making a serious comeback, luckily for Japanese casual wear heroes NEIGHBORHOOD, who have released their spring/summer 2013 collection, SPOT ITEM, featuring a full array of pieces to outfit the discerning denim wearer from head to toe.
The collection’s must have item will surely be the ever-popular button-up chambray work shirt, an item of clothing that allows any man to feel like Cool Hand Luke without the hassle of having the looks, the charm or the prison sentence. The shirt features white trim detailing around the dual breast pockets and printed numbering, suggesting a similarly on trend military influence to the collection.
As many of us have already declared denim jackets to be essential items, it is fortunate that one is also present in the SPOT ITEM collection. The NEIGHBORHOOD denim jacket features the same style of printed numbering, white pocket trim and distressed wash as the shirt. Also appearing as part of the clothing selection is a pair of loose fit jean trousers.
On the accessories front, NEIGHBORHOOD have presented us with a cap and a tote bag, boasting a deeper wash than that of the shirt, jacket and trousers. The tote bag makes the military flair far more overt by emblazoning the phrase “1st Marine Division” across the front.
Overall, the NEIGHBORHOOD SPOT ITEM range offers a display of the denim we have come to expect from this year’s collections whilst adding a touch of Japanese eccentricity to the proceedings. Given the bold twists on the items, NEIGHBORHOOD’s collection will surely not be everybody’s favourite this season, but for those of you who position themselves squarely in the ‘like’ camp, the assortment is available online and in Japanese stores now.
