Bomber and Harrington jackets are predicted to be huge this summer, but some (myself included) find them a little trite and overdone – or otherwise unfortunately intertwined with other iconic styles (see: Mods). And now you may enter, Mr. Oliver Spencer and your incredible ‘Brunswick Jacket’ in kirkland navy.
This piece ticks all the short and sharp boxes of Harrington/bomber chic, whilst providing a level of style above and beyond simple trend hopping. Based around the bold racing jacket silhouette of the 1950s, the ‘Brunswick Jacket’ has an understated but undeniable impact. With a bare chest, save for an asymmetric ‘jet pocket’, this piece catches the eye like a subtle wink from a sultry lady in a Parisian café (fashion journalism is all about the rhetoric).
On a serious fashion note, the striking blue hue also manages to hit the key colour trend for this summer, allowing you to stay on trend and effortlessly stand out without simply hitching a lift on the bandwagon.
Try coupling this with some light chinos turned up at the base, or suit shorts, and finish with either blue or light brown suede brogues. A white, button-down shirt on top will also really allow the colour to pop.
