Japanese label Onitsuka Tiger have added a new silhouette to their ever-expanding collection of footwear; the ‘Rio Runner’. Inspired by Onitsuka Tiger’s Mexico 66 performance trainers, first worn at the trials for the 1968 Olympic Games, the Rio Runner incorporates modern detailing and is available in a variety of vibrant colour ways. The trainer combines the brand’s signature aesthetic with the latest in performance technology, creating an extremely lightweight shoe that features a lace-up front and an advanced sole to enhance wearer comfort. The most distinctive feature is the moulded sole design. The outsole groove adds extra flexibility and cushioning, whilst the toe and heel areas have been reinforced for added durability and sturdiness. The shoe uppers are made from synthetic suede and come complete with a perforated body (for extra breathability) and the brand’s signature striped design.
