‘Her’ By Opening Ceremony x Spike Jonze

Opening Ceremony has launched a capsule collection inspired by a film from Oscar-nominated director and writer Spike Jonze. It marks the second time the label has teamed up with Jonze, having already released a collection based on his film, Where the Wild Things Are, back in 2009.

Starring Joaquin Phoenix, her tells the story of Theodore Twombly. The film’s characters wear a distinctive wardrobe created by costume designer Casey Storm. It is these costumes that the New York-based brand has reinterpreted to form a unisex capsule range.

The film’s protagonist wears a uniform of button-front shirts, panelled sweatshirts, patch pocket and shearling jackets, as well as high-waisted trousers. These garments provided the foundation for the line, which takes Twombly’s signature style and reproduces it in a palette of bold and neutral colours.

Highlights from the collection include colour-block sweatshirts, pastel and charcoal sweatpants, patched-up jackets, quilted outerwear and printed t-shirts featuring scenes from the film.

The capsule collection is accompanied by an editorial, shot by renowned photographers Philippe Jarrigeon and Brian Molloy. The duo draws on the collection’s androgynous aesthetic by pairing the models in matching pieces.

The collection launched in the US earlier this month and is expected in the UK from January.
