Orlebar Brown SS14 Review
Orlebar Brown’s flagship store in London’s West End was transformed into the pit stop of the Monaco Grand Prix to showcase its dazzling spring/summer 2014 collection as part of London Collections: MEN.
Taking a trip to Monaco, where exceptional weather and a unique lifestyle embody the heart of Mediterranean Europe, it provided the visual and conceptual references that fit effortlessly into Orlebar Brown’s design philosophy.
Drawing inspiration from Monaco’s yacht culture and the Monte Carlo Grand Prix, the collection was bold, lively and resolute.
Breton-inspired stripes run throughout the range, with the ‘Stanley’ blazer being the standout performer when wanting to make that transition from poolside to lounge-side in one fell swoop.
Utilising the full spring/summer spectrum of vibrant colours and playing on the Monaco theme, ‘Chicane Yellow’, ‘Riviera Blue’ and ‘Marshall Orange’ are all featured in the brand’s vivacious collection of well-tailored swim shorts – ideal for both aqua-based adventures or merely dining out during the day. With their striped ribbing details, similar to that found on racing suits, the shorts, Harrington jackets and ‘Ottoman’ stripe polo continue the Grand Prix theme.
Although we might not all be able to participate in the Monaco dream, don’t let it deter you from the clothes themselves. The Orlebar Brown collection consists of bright, exciting and carefully crafted clothing. Its versatility is second to none, from the choice of short length through to the tailored fit of each garment.
Once again, Orlebar Brown showed exactly why they are the go-to brand for high quality, easy to wear, spring/summer staples – all we need now is a yacht floating in the Mediterranean.
