Palladium x Billionaire Boys Club Boots
This season, Pharrell Williams’ clothing line, Billionaire Boys Club (BBC), teams up with French footwear label Palladium to launch a capsule collection of men’s boots.
™Palladium has a very eventful past. Founded in the 1920s, the brand started out making tyres for the aviation industry, which boomed during the war but dried up after WWII. To counteract the loss of business the label shifted focus and decided to use their expertise to create footwear, with their tyre manufacturing heritage still clearly visible within their signature rubber soles.
The AW13 two-piece collection combines BBC’s unmistakable street aesthetic with two classic Palladium silhouettes: the ‘Pampa Hi’ and the fold-over ‘Baggy’. Fusing fashion with function, the original boot designs were actually used by the French Foreign Legion in the harsh desert conditions of North Africa, so you know they’re built to last.
The collaboration is on trend due to the use of an all-over camo print, created by Japanese streetwear designer Sk8thing, which comes in grey/black and green colorways. Featuring premium suede leather uppers, a durable rubber outsole, rubber toecap and cushioned sock liners, the boots come complete with the Billionaire Boys Club logo and astronaut mascot printed onto the tongue and the Palladium round rubber logo on the side.
The Pampa Hi is a military/utility-inspired hi-top boot – a classic and effortlessly cool design that would look great paired with slim-cut indigo denim. Meanwhile, the fold-over Baggy offers you two looks in one, providing the wearer with great versatility. The design allows you to fold the top of the shoe over, so you can alternate the height of the boot depending on your outfit or the weather.
