Pretty Green SS13
This season Pretty Green have chosen Rolling Stone’s offspring Jesse Wood to front their SS13 campaign. The brand is built on British music heritage, after being founded and created by one of the most iconic rock ‘n’ roll front men of all time; Liam Gallagher. So it seems a fitting choice to choose Ronnie Wood’s son Jesse to be the face of the collection. The Rolling Stones and Oasis are arguably the greatest British rock bands of our time, so combing the two (albeit the offspring of one) sure to draw interest. As well as Jesse, the Rolling Stones provide the inspiration for the SS13 collection, which was taken from their ‘Rock and Roll Circus’ film. The film chronicles a pair of concerts put together back in 1968 that featured The Who, Eric Clapton and John Lennon among others. The event reflected the era both in terms of music and style. Pretty Green draws influence from this musical gathering by including items such as the ‘Devore’ slim-fit patterned jerseys and crisp cotton kaftan shirts within their range. The collection has a retro feel, but is counterbalanced with more functional pieces that combine interesting mixes of textures and fabrics – ensuring the pieces are more wearable for 2013. A highlight includes the black paisley print tee. The t-shirt features a black body with the brand’s signature colourful paisley print applied to the sleeves, along with split sides. The shirt is a classic and smart choice but the paisley accent again gives it a modern, on trend twist. However, the stand out piece within the collection is the mustard button down shawl cardigan, with patch pockets for a nod to 1960s culture.
