Sean O’Pry for H&M
H&M enlists Sean O’Pry, the world’s highest paid male supermodel, to pose in their most coveted winter knits. This isn’t the first time that the American top model has had his face plastered over the Swedish retailer’s billboards – O’Pry recently fronted their outerwear campaign and it seems the high street store just can’t get enough of him.
This time round, O’Pry cosies up to a range of essentials that includes everything from cardigans to cable knit jumpers. Proving that he looks just a good in black and white as he does in colour, O’Pry is shot through parallel camera filters. The model is seen wearing on trend Fair Isle and Aztec print knits, which prove safe fashion choices for H&M’s latest style update. Meanwhile, an intricately crafted Aran cable knit jumper is a timeless classic that is sure to join its print counterparts in becoming a top seller for the store.
The remainder of the collection sees classic v-neck tops and block-colour knit pieces in hues of grey and green. Conservative and understated, these pieces do not need any fancy editorial direction to make sales. This collection relies on wearable, versatile staples that do their own talking. More elaborate design is later seen in a pair of shawl neck sweaters; one with a duffel closure detail, before a double-breasted cardigan closes the collection.
Effortlessly fashionable and in keeping with the season’s key trends, the new knitwear collection from Hamp;M sets out with mass appeal in mind. What do you think? Should H&M up their game and be more adventurous in the design department, or keep true to the reliable beaten track which has served them so well?
