Quintessentially British brand Smart Turnout has been celebrating classic gentleman’s styling for over a decade, combining quality fabrics with fashion forward cuts. For their SS13 collection the brand utilises signature colours, drawn from the world’s most elite institutions, to create a modern update inspired by 1950s youth culture. Classic Americana references like rock ‘n’ roll, bowling alleys, drive-ins and motorcycles set the scene whilst icons such as James Dean, Marlon Brando and Steve McQueen are all referenced. The core of the collection focuses on wardrobe basics, with sweaters, shirts, tees, polos, chinos, jackets and accessories all on offer. The jacket stays true to the original Harrington silhouette that dates back to the 1930s but is updated for SS13 with a narrow blue and white striped design. It gets its name from the colours of its lining, which are those of the prestigious Yale University (yet another nod to American culture).
