SOE AW13 Collection
Last year men the world over rejoiced as fashion witnessed the re-birth of the sports-luxe movement. Playfully interweaving this prominent trend with a touch of British heritage and American prep (two resurgent trends within their own right), SOE release their boyishly masculine AW13 collection.
The brand’s AW13 offering is an urbane blend of sport-inspired pieces and timeless classics. Hi-top trainers, crew neck sweatshirts, fitted hoodies, varsity jackets, joggers and wool beanies are juxtaposed with suave loose-fitting trousers, simple button-downs, solid blazers, Harrington-style jackets and wool cardigans.
Japan-based head designer Soichiro Ito masterfully displays his trademark use of contrasting slim- and loose-fitting silhouettes, in addition to his strong affinity for on trend statement printing.
Autumn friendly colour ways are showcased in an effortless manner, ensuring versatility whilst staying true to cold climate tones. Rich oxblood provides the perfect complement to navy blue; varying hues of grey intertwine tonally with each other; and light beige offers just the right amount of variance to stark white.
The accompanying lookbook (below) impeccably meshes the three noted trends within each of the ensembles – epitomised by the windowpane checked two-piece suit teamed with a sport-like printed hoodie. Lying beneath the outerwear layers is a clean white shirt, fixed with a solid neck tie. A creative and measured way of combining varying shades of grey is met with accompanying chocolate brown Oxfords, which finish off this dapper ensemble.
With autumn/winter just a few months away, allow this article to serve as a friendly reminder to stockpile and prepare your autumn wardrobe for the upcoming season. If SOE provide any indication of what lies ahead, sporty and distinguished heritage pieces are set to cement their place in our wardrobe well into the New Year.
