Superdry AW13 Collection
Superdry has created a collection of updated menswear classics for the AW13 season. The British label has taken inspiration from Japanese minimal style and vintage Americana, producing a range of timeless, masculine pieces that would benefit any modern capsule wardrobe.
Garments are sleek and classic; the aesthetic has been stripped back in order to create a versatile range of ‘future classics’ – designed to transcend fleeting trends and be worn with pride for years to come.
The label is renowned for its orange signature colour and heavy use of graphic prints/slogans, yet this couldn’t be further from the truth for AW13 with minimal and discreet logos applied to garments and orange utilised for accent detailing only. It is a refreshing and mature approach from the brand, and one that fits in perfectly with the FashionBeans ethos.
Stand out pieces include the navy pea coat with grey borg collar. The design is cropped to waist height, giving the piece a contemporary twist and youthful injection. A subtle statement jacket that will see you through the colder months, when combined with some of the label’s slim-cut denim, you have the foundations of an easy to wear, versatile ensemble.
The parka continues to be a practical and on trend choice for autumn/winter, and Superdry are offering a version in brown, which makes a nice change from the traditional khaki green styles on the market. The design features four front pockets, dual zip closing and faux fur hood. This particular coat would look great teamed with rugged worker boots for a season-appropriate ensemble.
Other highlights include the range of textured knitwear, with a special mention to the tan roll neck jumper. The jumper would look superb when layered underneath one of the pea coats or over coats in the collection and has a fisherman/nautical feel to it, courtesy of the rope/cable detailing.
Overall, the new AW13 range shows the evolution of the brand – moving away from youth-led casual/street wear to a more classic and refined aesthetic. The pieces feel more ‘grown up’, and will therefore ensure you look good – whether you’re 18 or 48.
The collection will start hitting Superdry stores and online from August.
