Fashion and music have long been intertwined… but fashion and food?
British label Toast have combined these seemingly polar opposites for their AW13 campaign, which is fronted by twelve men, all of whom work with food and are passionate about what they do.
Included within the campaign are: Martin Hardiman, The Little Bread Pedlar; Tom Oldroyd, Chef Director at Polpo LTD; and Jeremy Lee, Head Chef at Quo Vadis, amongst others. Photographing each of these men in everyday working scenarios – from the kitchen to the market – the portraits are striking and capture the heart of the label: real and authentic, not for teenagers but ‘real’ men who want their clothing to fit in seamlessly with their lifestyle.
For AW13 the Swansea-based brand combines traditional British fabrics with contemporary cuts and silhouettes, resulting in pieces that are versatile and wearable with military and workwear references.
Outerwear is the real strength of the collection, with classics like the overcoat and parka crafted with sleek lines and clean silhouettes. The Picardy II is a particular highlight: the semi double-breasted design features military references, has three large external oversized pockets and comes in a timeless navy colour way. Made from 25oz wool twill, it will help you battle the elements in style this winter.
The brand’s knitwear also comes highly recommended, with the collection featuring a wide range of neck lines and textures in an autumnal palette. The Birdseye pullover is a FashionBeans favourite: effortlessly stylish, this beautiful sweater features on trend nautical/fisherman references. The chunky design is made from five gauge knit Shetland wool and comes complete with a ribbed neck, cuffs and hem. It is available in chocolate and oatmeal colour ways.
Much like its name, Toast’s collection is simple and unpretentious. The garments are classic and stylish with a timeless appeal – offering wardrobe staples to men of all ages.
The collection is available from Toast stores and online at toast.co.uk.
