Topman x Sibling Collection
Sibling, the brand that made knitwear cool again, has teamed up with high street giant Topman for a holiday season collection. A far cry from the tacky ‘nana knits’ usually found come December, the collaboration reveals much a darker side of Christmas.
Skulls adorning reindeer antlers, Fair Isle prints and clashing colour-blocks all make an appearance in the 10-piece collection. Remedies to the stiff sweaters and roll necks of office parties make for stark viewing under the collection’s tagline, ‘Merry Deathmas’.
In this range, pieces don’t rely on being over the top to stand out. FashionBeans’ favourite pieces include a jumper decorated with fiery lettering, aptly spelling out ‘MERRY’, and a Dennis the Menace-style sweater with the aforementioned reindeer skull emblazoned on the chest.
Scarves and beanies are thrown in for good measure, with the entire offering designed with Sibling’s archive as a mood board. The brand’s DNA is found in every stitch of the partnership, with embroidery, colour and pattern mixing taking centre stage.
In an interview with Complex, Sibling knitwear designer Cozette McCreery commented: “Working with Topman, who have supported us through the Newgen program pretty much from the start, wasn’t something we had to think very hard about when Gordon Richardson asked us straight after our LCM SS14 show. OK we admit to being a bit, erm, MERRY (to quote the jumper) but we were very excited!”
The exclusive collection, which starts at £20 for accessories, is available online now and officially drops in Topman stores on December 10th.
