Topman launches its autumn/winter 2013 suit collection, which is comprised of staple tailoring that will appeal to every gent – just in time for party season. The seven-piece line covers all bases, with classic evening suits sitting alongside contemporary work wear that can adapt to any occasion. The looks are categorised as ‘All-Over Checks’, ‘Trim & Detail Tuxedos’, ‘Premium Suiting’ and ‘Velvet and Black Colour Flannels’, with the high street store’s companion lookbook, below, showcasing some particularly interesting ways to wear the garments. Plain and tailored two-piece ensembles are pared-down with block-colour roll necks, which gives off a casual man-about-town vibe with a preppy underscore. At the other end of the spectrum, city appeal is captured by the combination of suiting separates with trainers, whilst tuxedos are revitalised with loose unbuttoned shirts and layered tees, giving classic formal looks a youthful, fashion forward twist. Elsewhere, bold patterned ties/bow ties are chosen for their statement feel and incorporate on trend clashing prints. An oversized sheer bow tie, which wouldn’t look out of place in a college year book from the 1980s, hints at retro influences whilst a leopard print tie teamed with a tartan suit proudly sticks a middle finger up to convention. In keeping with the clash culture initiated by the neck wear, all-over check ensembles follow suit. Versatile tweed styles are mixed together, united by colour and texture for a refreshing look that is full of character.
