Over the past five years, ethical label Veja has fought the good fight – promoting new methods of work in the construction of goods by utilising ecological inputs, fair trade cotton/latex and respecting workers’ dignity. Born from the musing of the question: is another world possible? Veja has established a global production chain that highlights solidarity and the environment, from the “the small producers in Brazil to the European concept stores at final output.” One way that Veja puts its mantra into practice is through its use of eco-tanned leather. This leather is tanned using vegetable extracts such as Acacia, rather than chromium or other heavy metal based procedures, which results in a decrease in water pollution surrounding the tannery plant.
