Whistles started off life as a small independent boutique founded in London in the late 1970s, quickly developing into a leading womenswear brand that now has stores across Europe as well as Russia and the UAE.
Currently led by Chief Executive Jane Shepherdson, the label still exudes the effortless, contemporary and largely androgynous style which it’s renowned for, reflecting its cosmopolitan roots not only through the clothes’ laid-back Parisian styling, but the fantastically interesting ‘Whistles Neighbourhood’ section on the brand’s website – which features an expert micro guide to a different city each week: the hipster hotspots and cosy cafes, it’s worth checking out.
If you’re a fan of the ‘I just threw this together and it worked’ look – and wondering why we’re waxing lyrically about a womenswear brand – you’re in for a treat… Autumn/winter 2014 will see Whistles launch a brand new menswear line.
Recruiting high calibre design talent to work under the creative direction of Design Director Nick Passmore, the collection will be available online and in key stores, as well as selected premium department stores.
The brand has made clear their desire to bring the Whistles aesthetic to menswear since 2008, choosing to capitalise on the considerable expansion in the contemporary middle market.
As an established brand with an attention to detail and quality that ensures each individual collection tells a story through its use of design, fabric and colour, we’re excited to see what the debut menswear range has to offer.
