Grab A Bargain
It’s sale season. Again. Yes, it may seem like every other week is sale season, but Christmas really is the good one. It’s the time of year that department stores wheel out their long lost items, the special pieces that just didn’t shift and, if you’re lucky, that lusted after jacket/top/shirt or pair of shoes that slipped through your fingers.
Of course, we all know that our favourite high street destinations will go into sale as soon as Christmas Day is over, so below we have picked out some of our favourite online retailers that offer something slightly more luxurious or unique, at a time where you can get a lot more for your money.
So bookmark these ten links now, get your cards at the ready and choose carefully – it’s investment time…
First up is SSENSE, the Canadian multi-brand retailer (don’t worry, their shipping is impeccably fast).
Sometimes overlooked, this store stocks a whole host of on-trend international brands and their buyers love both forward-thinking pieces and classic wardrobe staples.
This online boutique pulls in products from a global supply chain of independent boutiques, meaning you really can throw your sale shopping net far and wide.
It’s also a great place to check in and compare your bargains, which can often be cheaper here than other destinations.
3. Mr Porter
An absolute must on your sales list, the most elegant online menswear portal is stocked full of superb pieces that will bolster your wardrobe.
Ideal for men who like luxury that isn’t too outlandish, Mr Porter is all about subtlety. As is their sale start date, which is a closely guarded secret. Start checking in daily around 26 December and keep your eyes peeled – the best bits go fast.
Another strong luxury store, this particular retailer caters for the slightly more flamboyant customer. It’s great for sale pieces that really stand-out and offer a noticeable finish to your outfit.
The Matches sale has already started, with further pieces being added daily.
5. The Hip Store
A great little destination showcasing more accessible brands that will give your daily uniform a lift. Heritage brands are mixed in with leading newcomers to provide a rounded and classic offering.
The Hip Store sale starts immediately after Christmas.
6. Harvey Nichols
This luxury brand retailer has undergone some changes and right now the menswear buy is definitely leading the game when it comes to up-and-coming British labels, high-end streetwear and elegant off-the-peg tailoring.
Harvey Nichols online presence has also recently undergone a facelift, but hasn’t quite made its mark yet – meaning there are often plenty of bargains to be had. A shoppable sale preview is on now, with the full launch coming Boxing Day.
Known more for its content than its store, Hypebeast is an unsung hero that stocks an absolutely huge selection of menswear ranging from streetwear through bleeding edge brands, heritage lines, exclusive collaborations and rare finds.
The sale has started and will be added to continuously until mid-January. Don’t sleep.
8. Tres Bien
This Swedish retailer is a great combination of luxury and more accessible labels, mixing and matching different styles to create a truly cool offering.
Perfectly Swedish in its buy, Tres Bien is a great place to pick up either classic staples or statement pieces. Their outerwear and trainer selection is particularly strong.
9. Oi Polloi
One of our favourite independent menswear stores, Oi Polloi have been making us look great since 2002, with a distinctly Northern English style.
Traditional British labels meet terrace casual brands. Sale starts Boxing Day.
A leading menswear destination that caters for pretty much every aspect of the way we like to shop – from the high-end to the intricately made.
The Oki-Ni sale has started, with new lines set to be added until end of January.
