Menswear Brand Picked Up By High Street

Topman and ASOS are just two of the names which have picked up on new menswear launch, AKA clothing. The Manchester-based street wear brand confirmed the retailers will join around 60 other UK stockists selling the AW14 collection when it launches later in the year. The new range, which was recently shown at the founding city’s own fashion week, features AKA clothing’s signature monochrome colour scheme and loose fit. Key pieces include the Milan Shirt, a patterned short-sleeved garment with hand designed print. Another, the Smoke Shirt, features a photographic print of ink dropped into water. Finally, the white Bento Baseball Top capitalises on the popularity of American sports designs in the UK. Unlike many brands, AKA prints its shirts after the garment has been constructed, making each one unique. Designers at the young firm aim to experiment with diverse patterns and printing techniques by combining vintage fabrics with modern fits and shapes. Bosses will show off the latest range at menswear trade show Jacket Required in East London at the end of next month. Current retail partners include Footasylum and Bank in the UK. The SS14 collection is also available online at thisisaka.com, prices start at £55 for shirts.
