Etailer Gets First Ever Collaboration From US Label
Online retail giant ASOS has taken stock of an exclusive collection from American Apparel, marking the US label’s first menswear range with another brand. The collection comprises of American Apparel’s signature casual pieces as well as a focus on jersey materials and bold colours. Hoodies and t-shirts feature tropical leaf prints, while monochrome floral and geometric fabrics come in the form of short and long-sleeved sweatshirts. The 19-piece line delivers an all-American varsity feel with cut-and-sew t-shirts in pastel tones sitting alongside bomber jackets. A spokesperson from American Apparel said: “We are overjoyed with the results of our collaboration with ASOS. The collection has a youthful, athletic wear vibe that is sure to attract fans of both companies.” Having held a stockists deal since 2011, creative director Marsha Brady said upgrading to creating products together “only seemed natural”. ASOS is no stranger to menswear collaborations, having previously worked on projects with the likes of Puma and Lynx. Despite having partnered with artists such as Peter Max to influence designs, American Apparel has not released a joint menswear venture with another business before. The ASOS x American Apparel collection is available to buy exclusively online now. Prices range between £26 for t-shirts and £68 for bomber jackets.
