Astrid Andersen Spring/Summer 2015

Astrid Andersen debuted a Japanese-inspired range at London Collections: Men. It came just weeks after it was confirmed the Danish designer had partnered with Topman on a 17-piece capsule line. Andersen credited a love of Asian culture for the sumo-inspired menswear showing. The Opening Ceremony-stocked designer aimed to explore the sport in depth, looking at stereotypes, masculinity and power behind the discipline. Bold orange colours were paired with pinks, black and navy for what the designer describes as her “boldest and brightest” show to date. Andersen went on to describe her style as “masculine, using street attitude and hip-hop references whilst playing on more feminine materials and colours”. Looks included a long flowing robe paired with cropped joggers and a mesh crop top that played with masculinity. A selection of graphic print t-shirts and backpacks featuring Andersen’s circular logo were also shown. In partnership with Sophie Halette, Andersen also featured several outfits utilising the lace, from a complete lace long-sleeved shirt to subtler trim edges on sweatshirts. Astrid Andersen is stocked at retailers including Machine A and Opening Ceremony, as well as online at astridandersen.com.
