Baartmans and Siegel Autumn/Winter 2014
Wouter Baartmans and Amber Siegel showcased their AW14 collection on the last day of London Collections: MEN with classic elegance and modern masculinity.
The London-based duo, formerly of the Viktor & Rolf fashion house, drew inspiration for the brand’s latest collection from isolated and challenging Arctic landscapes with the presence of silent strength, beauty and confidence.
The collection contained three refined performance coats as part of the label’s exclusive collaboration with Massachusetts-based outerwear firm Penfield. With sharp tailoring, rubber hardwear and premium down insulation, each coat has also been designed with signature Baartmans & Siegel’s details: hidden seams, pockets and zippers, high impact cuts as well as jet black fur trims and linings.
Taking place a stones throw away from LC:M’s main show spaces, the collection also boasted reversible wool suit cut puffa jackets, a sheered mink trench coat, hand-knit mohair fisherman sweaters and embroidered casual wear.
With both designers graduating from the London College of Fashion in 2010, the brand has quickly developed a playful elegance in its clothing by using raw red selvedge details on its RAF bombers and suiting.
Baartmans and Siegel, known for its fur trim trench and parka coats, is now likely to be developing additional trademarks pieces following the pair’s latest showing. The AW14 line will be available later this year at stockists including Harrods, Daniel Jenkins and Wolf & Badger.
