Five-Piece Staple Coat And Jacket Range Lauches

High street menswear retailer Burton is readying customers for the winter months with a heritage-inspired outerwear collection. Dubbed the Origins of Outerwear, the five-piece range comprises staple coats including a mac, parka, pea coat, Chesterfield and bomber jacket. Each piece sticks to its traditional colour ways and detailing, such as the khaki parka with faux fur hood trim, navy pea coat and camel Chesterfield coat. Meanwhile, the lightweight mac comes in navy blue and green check print, with the bomber jacket appearing in navy blue with a silver zip front. According to the brand, each style “has earned its place in the history of menswear and has since become an essential part of every man’s winter outerwear wardrobe”. The history pieces in the collection reach back as far as the 1700s, starting with the pea coat which was worn by sailors as a defence against sea winds, ranging up to the 1950s for the bomber jacket and parka, which were designed and worn by military services. The line also features in Burton’s AW14 lookbook, alongside other outerwear pieces in varied colours and designs. Most coats in Burton’s Origins of Outerwear collection are available online and in Burton stores across the UK now, with others expected to follow in the coming weeks. Prices range between £65 for the bomber jacket and £95 for the mac.
