Bag Brand Makes Second Menswear Range With Adventure Theme
The Cambridge Satchel Company looked to great explorers when designing its second line for men, according to founder Julie Deane.
Details revealed about the upcoming range, due to be released in June, hint at inspiration taken from the brave names throughout history.
The Explorer collection uses colours and details to create an image of the deserts, mountains and sunsets of far away and exotic locations.
Deane’s vertical backpack design, which debuted in the first men’s line earlier this year, makes a return with several updates including a metal clasp in place of the original strap closing.
Colours include an all-over brown as well as navy and oxblood, which both feature contrasting light tan straps. Other canvas details and front pockets complete the design and add storage.
Company founder, former stay-at-home mum Deane, commented on the versatility of the line saying the bags “will be equally at home on a camel trek, an early morning photoshoot in the desert, or a city break.”
“We all have a bit of Explorer in us and this collection celebrates that spirit,” she added
The Google advert star received a financial boost at the start of 2014, with a $21m (£12.7m) investment from Index Ventures. With the injection Deane said she plans to make key hires to expand the business, suggesting menswear lines could become a regular fixture.
Prices for the explorer collection, which will be available in Cambridge Satchel stores and online from June 30th, start from £125.
