Female Model To Turn Designer For Unisex Collection
Model-of-the-moment Cara Delevingne has designed a unisex capsule collection for DKNY.
The 21-year-old made the announcement via an Instagram post earlier this week, using the caption: ‘Get Ready! It’s coming… #Cara4DKNY.’
Representatives for the brand confirmed the news in a statement shortly after.
The expected fifteen-piece collection, due for release in mid-October, will include beanie hats, t-shirts, vests, a parka and a leather biker jacket with removable sleeves.
Speaking to WWD about the collaboration, Delevingne said: “I can’t believe that some random, rough ideas have finally turned into my own collection…designs with my own name on them and in collaboration with the iconic DKNY brand.”
The British model has featured in numerous campaigns for the American firm, which recently joined the line-up for London Collections: Men.
The news came with the announcement that Delevingne will help to cast two or three budding models to join her in the ads for the range.
The model, socialite, actress and singer has invited her 5.5m Instagram followers to post pictures of themselves using the hashtag #CaraD4DKNY and #CaraWantsYou between now and 16th June to be in with a chance of joining her on set at the shoot in New York.
The Cara Delevingne x DKNY collection will land in retail stores and online from 14th October. Prices have been confirmed to start at £41.50 for accessories and reach up to £438.
