Designer Reworks 23-Year-Old Boot
Footwear brand Cat has revealed Alex Mattsson as the latest designer to re-work one of its popular boot styles.
It follows on from a collaboration with Christopher Shannon earlier in the year. Cat has also teamed up with British designer Martine Rose in the past.
The brand signed up the Swedish-born talent to make over its 23-year-old Colorado boot. Mattsson’s design “utilises Cat’s technical capabilities”, comprising a stacked sole, 3M tongue and strap locking system.
The boots are made from black and white leathers taken from Cat’s material libraries, finished with perforated detailing, textured effects and branded in white and mint green.
Speaking about the collaboration, Mattsson said: “Cat has an amazing track record. In terms of creative freedom, it’s a dream situation for a designer.”
“It’s limitless in that you can do whatever you want. It’s really exciting to work for a company that can make your ideas happen.”
The project continues an established history between the pair, with Cat’s footwear featuring in Mattsson’s AW13 and SS14 live presentations and lookbooks.
The Alex Mattsson x Cat Footwear Colorado boots are available now from contemporary fashion retailer Machine A in Soho and online priced at £159.99.
