CFDA Fashion Awards 2014 Nominees

Thom Browne, Marcus Wainwright, David Neville, Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow are among the names nominated for the top menswear prize at this year’s Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards. A full list of nominees and honourees for the annual event in New York, which recognises the outstanding contributions made to American fashion, has been disclosed. The Womenswear Designer of the Year Award is expected to go to Marc Jacobs, Joseph Altuzarra of Altuzarra or Alexander Wang. Wang is also up for Accessories Designer of the Year, alongside Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen of The Row, and Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough of Proenza Schouler. Awards are given for design excellence in womenswear, menswear and accessories, as well as benchmark accomplishments in journalism and creative vision. Every year, a lifetime achievement accolade is also presented to an individual that has shown extraordinary talent and promise for several years. The CFDA Fashion Awards Guild – an invitation-only network consisting of the industry’s top retailers, journalists, stylists and influencers – decides nominations for each prize. As in previous years, the Swarovski Award will commend emerging talent. Nominated are Rosie Assoulin, Wes Gordon and Creatures of the Wind’s Shane Gabier for womenswear, while the menswear nominations include Todd Snyder, Tim Coppens and Hood by Air’s Shayne Oliver. Marc Alary, Irene Neuwirth or Jennifer Fisher will go home with the equivalent for accessory design. This year’s Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Tom Ford, while Raf Simons will walk away with acknowledgement for his international work. The CFDA Fashion Awards 2014 will take place on June 2nd at the Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center, New York and will be supported by Swarovski.
