Heritage Sports Firm Returns After Decade Away

American sportswear manufacturer Champion is relaunching in the UK, more than ten years after exiting the market. A lookbook released by the heritage brand showcases a number of new styles, as well as the return of the Reverse Weave collection. The video, directed by Rich Evans of Rich London PR, maintains the almost 100-year firm’s ties with sports such as baseball, basketball and tennis. It famously provided uniforms for major NBA and college squads during the 1990s and continues to outfit the Italian and Hellenic men’s national teams. T-shirts, joggers and outerwear appear in the two-minute clip, which reveals the collection positioning itself for both the athletic and streetwear sector. Despite Champion’s athletic apparel, team uniforms, footwear and accessories being available in 60 countries across Europe, Africa and the Middle East, the brand has been absent from the UK for over a decade. It is yet to be confirmed whether the company will also make a return to sponsoring English football teams, a deal last seen with Wigan Athletic. The full AW14 collection from Champion will launch online later in the year. The Reverse Weave collection is available to buy now at Size?, Present and Oi Polloi. Prices range from ÂŁ55 for joggers, to ÂŁ85 for zip up hoodies.
