Christopher Kane is to open his first store in Mayfair, London by the end of 2014. The inventive and bold designer’s plans will see him neighbour other luxury brands such as Balenciaga and Christian Dior. The label joined multinational holding company Kering in January last year; an investment likely to have ignited the move to expand globally. The Scottish-born, London-based designer and his sister Tammy Kane have made the decision to show their collections in the exclusive area of Mount Street in Mayfair. The location has recently been the choice for many established and rising designers. Serbian Roksanda Ilincic has also secured a space on Mount Street, while Victoria Beckham is another expanding her fashion business to the attractive area. It has taken the label a year to choose the right location. After great thought and consideration, bosses decided on a location opposite shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood. Christopher and Tammy commented in a joint statement: “To have our own retail space gives us the chance to showcase our collections and to really express our vision. To open in London first was really important to us as this is where our label was born.” The brand’s growing success follows their contribution to London Collections: MEN. Christopher Kane is unveiling his static presentation by appointment only between 11:30 – 13:30 today. The Mayfair store will open towards the end of 2014.
