Menswear Talent Revamps Worker Boot
British fashion designer Christopher Shannon has teamed up with work boot brand Cat Footwear, to revamp one of its classic styles for spring/summer 2015. The new model, previewed at Shannon’s recent London Collections: Men show, is a fresh take on the firm’s signature T3 Colorado boot. Reimagined by Shannon’s in-house team, the exclusive boot comes in both black and white colour ways. Laces have been removed and replaced with a zip back to give a cleaner look. However, original technical details have remained, including a rubber outsole, stacked midsole, leather upper and traditional storm welt base. The Liverpudlian designer said: “I wanted to develop a style that was simple but really impactful and sturdy, and I was curious to see what we could bring to the Cat brand and classic styles.” Shannon’s team-up with Cat is one of many footwear collaborations unveiled at the menswear event, which also included Baartmans and Siegel x Kickers. It adds to a growing list of collaborations for the Designer Menswear Fund winner, which includes Dune in early 2014 and Kickers for spring/summer 2013. While no official prices have been revealed for the boots, the Christopher Shannon x Cat Footwear collection has been confirmed for select independent retailers from next summer. Shannon’s other designs are currently available in Liberty, Harvey Nichols and Opening Ceremony, with prices starting from around £60.
