New Fragrance Made Entirely From Wood
Japanese label Comme des Garçons has added new fragrance ‘WonderOud’ to its extensive scent line-up, in celebration of the aromatic wood, oud.
Calling it the “ultimate wood fragrance”, the brand has used notes from the natural resource for its latest offering.
Known as “the black gold of perfumers”, the oud used is extracted from sustainably grown trees in south east Asia, according to a statement from the label.
The unisex fragrance also concentrates the wood notes in the heart, not the base of the fragrance, giving it additional hints of balsamic and honey.
WonderOud follows a long line of Comme des Garçons fragrances – including their first ever ‘anti-perfume’, Odeur 53, created in 1998, and their latest, similarly woody fragrance Wonderwood, launched in 2010.
The label also collaborated with musician Pharrell Williams in March of this year, creating unisex fragrance ‘GIRL’. No stockists of the scent have yet been confirmed, but it’s set to launch this September.
Aside from their fragrance collaborations, Comme des Garçons have teamed up with Supreme and Vans on capsule clothing collection this year, through diffusion line SHIRT.
WonderOud is available exclusively at Selfridges, in a limited edition 100ml bottle priced at £83.
